Most people might want to avoid controversy, but Kanye West practically thrives on it. That’s why he’s so proud of wife, Kim Kardashian, for speaking her mind regarding Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj’s Video Music Awards fight!
Kim Kardashian, 34, is learning a lot from hubby, Kanye West — including how to stir up some drama! The reality star was under fire on July 21 for seemingly engaging in Taylor Swift, 25, and Nicki Minaj’s, 32, Twitter fight, which had absolutely nothing to do with her. But while Twitter blew up with criticism, Yeezy couldn’t be more proud, HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned.
“Kanye thinks Kim should speak her mind and challenge people more than she does,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He’s always telling her she shouldn’t be afraid to mix it up with people she doesn’t agree with. Obviously, Kanye speaks his mind, and he wants her to have the confidence to do it, as well. He thinks she’s ‘the business’ for getting involved and hopes she will start doing it more.”
The whole feud began when Nicki took to Twitter to rant about not getting nominated for Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards. After a series of tweets, the rapper commented that only videos that “celebrate women with very slim bodies” get nominations for the coveted award, and considering the only other females in the category are Beyonce and Taylor, the “Bad Blood” singer couldn’t help but think the remark was directed at her.
The ladies engaged in a back and forth, but around the same time, Kim was uploading make up-free photos from her Vogue Spain shoot. In one, she is lying on a couch, mid sentence, which she captioned, “Imma let you finish but…” In case you can’t quite put your finger on what that’s from — it’s what Yeezy said while interrupting Taylor when she was accepting the Video Of The Year Award in 2009!
According to Kim, though, the whole thing was completely coincidental. “Wait wait I’m in Paris it’s the middle of the night & I’m posting my Vogue Spain pics not having a clue what’s going on in the music world,” she wrote. “I’m not trying to shade anyone! That’s not my style! I just thought that caption was perfect for that pic! Changing the caption now!”
Whew, HollywoodLifers — do you think Kim was shading Taylor? Do you agree with Kanye that Kim needs to speak her mind more?
