This is so scary. ‘Gone Baby Gone’ actor Sean Malone is currently in critical condition after nearly drowning at the beach on July 20. While Sean was rescued from the waters, he is far from being okay after the incident.
Sean Malone, 54, may have survived his near drowning incident at the South Boston beach, but the nightmare is far from over. Once he was rescued from the South Boston beach waters, the actor was immediately transported to the hospital where he is currently in critical condition after he almost drowned.
When Sean decided to go for a swim at the South Boston beach on July 20, a concerned off-duty firefighter saw him swimming far out from the shore. Firefighter Chris Flaherty was working out with other off-duty firefighters at the L Street Bathhouse before he decided to grab a paddle board and swim out to check on Sean. The firefighter explained to The Boston Globe that when he arrived at the spot where he last saw Sean, the actor had gone underwater. Chris was able to flag down three teenagers on a powerboat to help him find Sean.
Shortly after the three teens and firefighter teamed up, Chris was able to spot Sean in the water and safely got him onboard the boat and back to the shore. The group on the boat was met by two other off-duty firefighters who were with Chris before the rescue. The two firefighters assisted in CPR and chest compressions before the actor was taken to the Boston Medical Center where he was said to be in critical condition.
Sean Malone’s Family Thank Those Involved In Water Rescue
While Sean’s family is relieved there were people around to help him out, the incident is far from over. “Sean’s family just wanted to pass on that they’re grateful for the work everyone has done so far to give Sean a chance, and they’re praying for the best,” Steve MacDonald, Boston Fire Department spokesman said. Hopefully the actor is able to pull through from this tragic incident. We send our thoughts to Sean and his family during this difficult time and hope for the best.
