‘Sisterhood Of Hip Hop’: Queen Latifah Gives The Girls Inspiration — Watch

Whip out the tissues, because you will tear up watching this. In an EXCLUSIVE clip from the new episode of ‘Sisterhood of Hip Hop,’ Queen Latifah drops by to give the girls some advice– and it’s totally inspiring!

On an upcoming episode of Sisterhood of Hip Hop, the five spitters get a visit from someone who knows a thing or two about starting off as a female rapper: Queen Latifah! In the episode, which will air on Oxygen on July 21, the girls will reinterpret the Queen’s classic, “U.N.I.T.Y,” and they get seriously emotional when they receive advice from such an inspiration. In fact, as Nyemiah Supreme puts it, “This is my dream. I’m looking at my dream.” Check out the EXCLUSIVE (and totally tear-jerking) sneak peek!

For the first time ever, the five female emcees are collaborating together, to remake Latifah’s classic cut (with her permission, of course). Better yet, the gals are reinterpreting the song for a great cause: to send the message that women in the industry should be building one another up, rather than tearing each other down.

Of course, Queen Latifah certainly knows all about that dichotomy, which is why she is brought on board to mentor the five young women, and share experiences from her time coming up in the all too difficult music industry. “It’s my honor to be here amongst five female spitters because this is my dream realized,” she explains to the girls, all of whom sit on the edge of their seats listening.

“This is something I worked real hard for. I had to work hard and cut through a lot of bulls–t,” adds Latifah. As she speaks, Diamond is visibly affected, wiping tears from her eyes.  Latifah then moves on to discuss why she thinks it is that females don’t come together easily, especially in music, and she even references her relationship with Missy Elliott! It’s super powerful!

Sisterhood of Hip Hop airs Tuesdays at 9pm ET/PT on Oxygen. What do you think of the clip? Are you excited to see Queen Latifah on the show?
