You weren’t the only one blindsided by the heartbreaking demise of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s marriage. That’s right, Miranda’s own mom didn’t see the breakup coming either, leaving her just as stunned.
While we still sort of can’t believe that Blake Shelton, 39, and Miranda Lambert, 31, are like, actually, getting a divorce, more details keep emerging making the split way too real — and pretty much unbearable for all fans of country music/everlasting love. The latest? Not even Miranda’s mother knew about the couple’s parting of ways, as she revealed in a new interview! So. Devastating.
In a disheartening admission, Miranda’s mama, Beverly June Hughes, confessed that she knew nothing of her divorce from Blake until they announced it to the public. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she told RadarOnline, when reached via phone on July 20. “They didn’t tell me!”
It’s shocking that she’d be the last to hear the news, given that the papers were reportedly filed by Blake in Oklahoma several months ago — and the fact that she has an incredibly strong relationship with her superstar daughter. At one time, Beverly was Miranda’s main confidant.
When the “Over You” singer was thought to be pregnant with Blake’s child in 2013, her mom immediately shut down the rumor — insisting that she’d be the first to hear about it. “They are totally not expecting,” she told the site at the time. “And I’m fairly certain I’d be the first to know.”
The couple crushed our souls with the sad news with the following joint-statement, given to the Associated Press: “This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy heart that we move forward separately,” the said. “We are real people, with real lives, with real family, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
July just must not be a good month for celeb couples. In the zeitgeist, we’ve been forced to say goodbye the the beloved unions of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner as well as Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick.
While we thought those separations were hard to handle, nothing can really compare to Blake and Miranda’s trip to Splitsville. We never imagined the pair’s four-year romance would ever fall to the curse of Hollywood, and now we’re more positive than ever that true love is dead — and we’re sure Miss Beverly agrees.
