Jason Dohring Joins The Originals

Logan Echolls lives on! Well, sort of. ‘Veronica Mars’ star Jason Dohring has joined the cast of ‘The Originals.’ Get the scoop on his role in season three!

Watch out, Klaus and Elijah, there’s a new hunk in town. Jason Dohring, 33, also known as the Logan Echolls on Veronica Mars, has been cast in season three of The Originals as the hot new detective. Veronica would be so pleased!

Jason’s new role is a far cry from Logan Echolls. He’s been cast in the recurring role of  Detective Will Kinney, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He’s described as “smart and confident with a very clear sense of right and wrong, who is out to bring the forces of evil to justice.”

Sounds juicy! THR adds that Will isn’t familiar with the vampires, werewolves, hybrids and witches that permeate New Orleans, but he has a “strong suspicion that something strage is happening.” Boy, this guy’s in for a rude awakening.

Jason is best known for his role as Logan Echolls, the bad boy who just so happened to be the love of Veronica Mars’ life. He was a fan-favorite on the show during its three season run. The show was sadly cancelled in 2007 but was revived in the form of a movie in 2014. In the movie, Veronica (Kristen Bell) and Logan finally got the happily ever after they deserved. It was epic

Jason joins the cast alongside Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Danielle Campbell, Leah Pipes and Charles Michael Davis. Looks like Jason might be a busy guy in the coming year. Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas told our sister site TVLine that he and Kristen Bell were eyeing a “short-run series.” Well, Veronica Mars wouldn’t be completely without Logan Echolls!

We hope that Jason brings a little bit of Logan’s snark to his role in The Originals. See below for what we’re talking about.
