Wow! Female fighter extraordinaire, Ronda Rousey, was honored with the Best Female Athlete award during the 2015 ESPY Awards. Congrats!
Ronda Rousey, 28, has a brand new accessory to go with her gorgeous ESPY Awards dress: the trophy for Best Female Athlete! The UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion took a moment to thank her mom, AnnMarie De Mars, 56, for helping her rise to the top. So sweet.
Hopefully she prepared by putting a new shelf up in her home, because Ronda Rousey has a handful of new awards to put on display. Not only did she win the award for Best Fighter before the 2015 ESPYS aired live, but she also took home the honorable Best Female Athlete award — which was presented by Britney Spears and JJ Watt. Incredible!
“Well, first I really want to thank all the women that are nominees and all the women here for being the change we want to see in the world,” Ronda started her touching acceptance speech, clearly excited about her win. But, her speech took an even more emotional turn when she directed the spotlight towards her mom.
“Mostly I wanna thank my mom who, you did so much,” Ronda said as her mom, AnnMarie De Mars, watched with pride in the audience. “[You] put up with so much for me to get here, and I really appreciate it.” It really was so sweet for Ronda to not only take her mom as her date, but show the world how important her support has been over the years.
