Who ya gonna call? Dan Akroyd, apparently! That’s right. The actor who took on the role of Dr. Raymond Stantz in the original ‘Ghostbusters’ will officially be starring in the new reboot! So will other originals jump on? (Please say yes!)
We’ve seen the ladies in their gear, and now, we know we’ll be seeing the return of Dan Akroyd to the world of Ghostbusters. That’s right! The actor, 63, was spotted on set in Boston on July 13, where he was shooting a scene with the one and only Kristen Wiig. It’s been 31 years since the original movie so basically, we couldn’t be more excited about the news. So, what’s his role?
“On GB set shooting my scene with funny beautiful Kristen Wiig lady GB’S are adorable, hilarious and badass Exhilarating! #ghostbusters,” Dan tweeted on July 14. While he later deleted the tweet, his participation in the film was confirmed by publicists.
He was on set in Boston on Monday night, according to Indie Revolver. He was starring in a scene wit Columbia University professor/paranormal expert Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig)! Apparently, Dan was heard saying, “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!” and Kristen yelled something like “That’s a double negative! That means you are afraid of ghosts!”
I mean, if you’re not excited, I don’t know HOW. This does make us wonder if Bill Murray will also make a cameo. I mean, he is the ultimate Ghostbuster, right? The movie, which also includes Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones as the lead, and Chris Hemsworth as our must-have eye candy, would obviously be more complete with Mr. Murray!
Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 22, 2016. Are you excited that Dan has joined? Should Bill Murray make a cameo? What about Ernie Hudson? Let us know what you think, HollywoodLifers!
