How sad. July 13, 2015 marks two years since ‘Glee’ star, Cory Montieth, passed away. On the anniversary of his death, his former love and co-star, Lea Michele, took a moment to remember the late Finn Hudson. In a touching message, Lea told Cory that she still holds him in her heart!
It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since Cory Montieth’s life was tragically cut short. Though he died in 2013, Cory has been kept alive in the thoughts of all who loved him. His former girlfriend, Lea Michele, 28, took a moment to remember Cory, sharing a heartfelt tribute to him on this sad anniversary.
Lea posted a picture of Cory to her Instagram account on July 13. The shot showed him driving a car on a sunny day with a smile on his face. With the sun brightly shining, it looked very heavenly — perfect for Lea’s loving words for her late boyfriend.
“I know you would want us all laughing and smiling today,” Lea wrote, reminding all Gleeks and non-Gleeks to not be sad on the day of Cory’s death. “So we think of you and remember all the laughter and joy we shared together.”
This wasn’t the only tribute to Cory that Lea has shared in 2015. On Cory’s birthday, she posted a picture of Cory banging on a drum set to Twitter. “I know you’re serenading everyone right now…” she wrote. Cory and Lea were together up to his death, and she seems to continue to miss him. Even in 2014, Lea honored Cory on the one-year anniversary of his passing, tweeting how she will always “remember [his] smile.”
Lea ended her July 13 message to him on a positive note. After encouraging everyone to not be sad with the loss, but to think of all the good times with Cory, she said “I hold you in my heart always,” adding that she continues to “love and miss you so.”
May 11, 2015, would have been Cory’s 33rd birthday. Cory, who appeared in Kyle XY before breaking out as Finn in Glee, was found dead in a Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada hotel room. His death was attributed to a mix of heroin and alcohol. He had struggled with substance addiction since high school and even went into treatment prior to his death. Though his life ended sadly, let us remember the happiness that Cory brought to us with his short but wonderful career.
