What started out as a heartbreaking situation, has quickly turned into something truly amazing. A young homeless Filipino boy is now being overwhelmed with donations, after he was seen using the light of a fast food restaurant to do his homework.

Daniel Cabrera, 9, will now be able to fulfill his dream! The homeless little boy became a media sensation after a student snapped his photo and posted it online. Now, his goal of becoming a policeman will come true after tons of donations of cash, school supplies and a college scholarship poured in.

A homeless boy in the Philippines is getting much deserved help after a photo of him doing his homework outside a McDonald’s went viral. His picture was snapped by Joyce Torrefranca, a student in Mandaue City, posted the pics to her Facebook on June 23. She captioned the snap, “I got inspired by a kid.”

In the pic, Daniel is sitting close to the fast food chain, trying to complete his homework uses the restaurant’s light. He had built himself a makeshift desk and is kneeling on the concrete sidewalk.

His photo then took off all across social media. A Philippine news station ABS-CBN caught wind of the post, and went to investigate. They found out that Daniel’s family doesn’t have a permanent place to live after their home was destroyed in a fire. To make matters worse, his mother is struggling to make ends meet, because she reportedly only makes 80 Philippine pesos a day, which equals out to $1.77.

The boy’s mother, Christina Espinosa, told the outlet, “He is a very studious and determined boy… He would insist on going to school even without his lunch money because I have no money to give. He always tells me: ‘Mama, I don’t want to stay poor. I want to reach my dreams’.”

Well, those dreams can now come true because donations are coming in left and right! Christina told the outlet, “We’re overjoyed. I don’t know what I will do with all of these blessings. Now, Daniel will not have to suffer just to finish his studies.”

After Joyce’s photo went viral, she took to Facebook again to thank everyone for their support, “I didn’t think that a simple photo can make a huge difference. Thank you guys for sharing the photo. With that, we were able to help Daniel in reaching his dreams. I hope Daniel’s story will continue touching our hearts so that we will always be inspired and motivated in every situation we face in life.”
