It seems like makeup has entered its blue period. At least according to trendsetting celebs like Olivia Palermo and Kim Kardashian who have been experimenting with blue eyeshadow and eyeliner looks.
Whether you’re looking for a subtle pop of color or a bold, all-over hue, consider adding blue into your beauty routine. Olivia Palermo and Kim Kardashian are onboard, and the look is fresh and pretty for summer. See the many ways you can try the trend for yourself!
Forget everything you’re thinking if this trend instantly conjures up images of the all-over shadow style of the ’80s. Olivia and Cara Delevingne are making the look modern by keeping the shadow more concentrated.
Olivia tried out a lighter shade of blue like Butter London Wink Cream Eyeshadow in Inky Six, applying the shadow across the upper lid, stopping at the crease. If you want a darker shade of blue, copy Cara’s July Vogue photo shoot. The model used a rich blue shade like Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow in Dragonfly along the upper lid and then lining the lower lashline. To get that definition along the bottom, dampen a liner brush before swiping it across the eyeshadow pan.
How To Wear Blue Eyeshadow — Copy Emma Stone’s Trendy Makeup
If a hint of color is all you’re after, Emma Stone and Kim K are the girls to copy. For Emma’s graphic look, Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin created a V-shape along the outer corners of the eyes using Revlon PhotoReady Kajal Matte Eye Pencil in Matte Marine.
Meanwhile, Mario Dedivanovic, Kim’s makeup man lined just the waterline with a summery turquoise color. Get her look with Make Up For Ever Artist Liner in Iridescent Turquoise on the waterline only. To really make your eyes pop, copy Kim by lining you upper lashline with a thin black eyeliner.
