Former Miss Nevada Katie Rees is breaking bad! The pageant queen was reportedly arrested in Las Vegas on July 9 on felony charges related to trafficking methamphetamine. What a terrible situation. Find out all the details here!
You may remember Katie Rees, 30, as the former Miss Nevada who was stripped of her crown in 2007, when sexually explicit photos of her surfaced online. Now, the former Miss Nevada USA winner was reportedly arrested on four felony counts related to possessing and trafficking methamphetamine in Las Vegas.
Katie’s troubles started in September 2014, when she allegedly sold meth to someone identified as “J. Peacock,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. In October, she was then found carrying 5.3 grams of meth; the report said she was conspiring with “unknown co-conspirators.” Because of these two incidents, Katie was charged Monday, July 6, with “trafficking in a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, and two counts of conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substances act.”
Awful! Don’t mess with drugs, kids. A $50,000 warrant was put out for Katie’s arrest on Wednesday, July 8, and she was booked on July 9. Details about what comes next for the former pageant queen, who also works as a model, are very limited at this time. And this is not Katie’s first time getting in trouble for drugs, unfortunately.
Katie Rees’ Trouble With The Law
Katie was featured on a 2009 episode of the Australian program Border Security: Australia’s Front Line. In the episode, she was seen being questioned by customs agents at the Sydney Airport, as they revealed that her luggage tested positive for cocaine and methamphetamine after being swabbed.
“I don’t do drugs,” Rees said. “I don’t use cocaine. I don’t use any kind of pill, no kind of Xanax, no anything. I don’t use anything.”
Back in 2012, Katie pled guilty to one count of possession of a drug not for interstate commerce; Las Vegas prosecutors dropped the charges against Katie for carrying drug paraphernalia and marijuana, and she was ordered to go to drug counseling (she did) and “stay out of trouble.” Hopefully, Katie will get the help she needs and learn from this most recent incident!
