As David Lee readies up to leave the Golden State Warriors for the Boston Celtics, his pal Stephen Curry has bid him farewell in truly bromantic fashion.
What a send-off! After five years of playing in the NBA together, best buddies Stephen Curry, 27, and David Lee, 32, are sadly parting ways. While Steph is staying put with the Warriors, David will soon be a Celtic after trading spots with Gerald Wallace. As David prepares to depart Cali for Massachusetts, an emotional Steph said goodbye to him in a very memorable way on social media. Click inside to see his touching message.
It’s no wonder that Steph will miss having David around. He earned a spot on the All-Star team in 2013 as a Warrior, ranks sixth in Warriors’ history in defensive rebounds and they just won a championship together.
Steph has stuck by David’s side every step of the way. The athletes have played well together through all of their team’s triumphs and failures. Being the best teammate (and BFF!) ever, Steph paid tribute to his friendship with David by wishing him good luck in the future — while reminding him of their very first play together. (Hint: they didn’t quite start off on the right foot.) Take a look:

“In honor of my boy @DLee042 taking the next step in his career, this is how we started our relationship! Love you bro,” he tweeted to his 2.64 million followers on July 7. In case you didn’t catch it, the clip shows Steph blocking David’s shot, while playing the eighth game of his career.
Shockingly, this was Steph’s first block of his career — a moment which actually resulted in a minor trash-talking sesh between himself and David! Thankfully, the boys didn’t hold a grudge and have clearly become besties since their initial interaction. Obvi, because David gave Steph a retweet. Phew.
