So scary! A 7-month-old baby has been reported missing after his dad, Tony Moreno, attempted suicide in Middletown, Connecticut. Police have issued a silver alert for the child.
Tony Moreno, a 22-year-old Middletown, Connecticut resident, jumped off the Arrigoni Bridge on July 5, and police believe his 7-month-old son, Aaden, was with him at the time of the suicide attempt. Now, fearing that he may have jumped with the baby, a silver alert has been put out to find the missing baby.
Tony called a friend late July 5 evening, threatening to jump off the bridge. The caller told police they heard Aaden in the background, but responding officers, who arrived at the scene as Tony was jumping into the Connecticut River, did not see a baby with the young father at the time.
As the search for Aaden continues, Tony remains in serious condition at Hartford Hospital, after being rescued by firefighters from the river. “We are contacting known associates of the suicidal male to see if the child was left in the care of someone else,” the Middletown Police captain said. “But if anyone has any information, please contact the Middletown police department at 860-638-4000.”
Middletown police are searching the water and surrounding area, with assistance from the state police and U.S. coast guard. Aaden, who is just 2 feet tall and 23 pounds, was last seen wearing a white shirt with black stripes and a Mickey Mouse photo on the front.
Our thoughts are with Aaden’s family during this very difficult and scary time, and of course, we’re hoping Aaden is safe.
