Is Tom Cruise really leaving Scientology for his daughter Suri? Highly unlikely, says ex- member Chris Shelton, who reveals to HollywoodLife.com that anyone who leaves the church would face massive consequences. Read on for all the shocking details!
After a report surfaced that Tom Cruise, 52, was leaving the Church of Scientology for his young daughter Suri Cruise, 9, HollywoodLife.com reached out to former member Chris Shelton, 45, who tells us EXCLUSIVELY that the movie star would have to “disconnect” from his family and older kids, and face “massive consequences” if he left.
“I don’t personally believe that Tom Cruise left the church,” former high-ranking Scientology Sea Org. member Chris Shelton tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “For anyone who leaves the church of Scientology, there would be massive consequences. There are always consequences for leaving the church. The church has demonstrated that they have no qualms whatsoever about releasing so called confidential audits of members who leave. These audits are supposed to be confidential, but have been used against members, who are considered ‘suppressive people’ because they left the church. You have to remember — Tom has been part of the church since the 1980’s. That’s a long time. He has surrounded himself with Scientologists. If he left the church, he would have to ‘disconnect’ from the rest of his family who are in the church. That includes his older children, too.”
Tom Cruise Leaves Scientology For His Daughter Suri?
The shocking report that Tom might be moving on from Scientology for Suri’s sake surfaced in a Star Magazine report on July 1. The thought allegedly crossed the A-list actor’s mind after a phone call with his adorable daughter. “She was going on and on about her ballet class and how much she loves it,” an insider told the mag. “That’s when Tom realized he’s never seen her perform ballet and he started to tear up. It hit him that she’s growing up before his eyes and he’s not there to witness most of it. They talk on the phone and video chat, but it’s not the same.”
But Chris confirms that it’s won’t be so simple for Tom to walk away. “Leaving Scientology after being a member for 27 years and being part of their highest level–the Sea Org–was the scariest thing I have ever done,” Chris continued. “It’s not as simple as just saying goodbye and walking away. Scientology is a cult and all about mind control. They lead you to believe that if you leave the church or if you continue to associate with people that leave the church that something terrible will happen to you. It’s all about mind control and fear. It doesn’t matter how intelligent you are, something being intelligent can actually work against you,” Chris is now officially labeled a ‘suppressive person’ and wants people to know that, in his opinion, Scientology is “a money making scam”.
