The legacy lives on. Alexandra Reeve Givens, the daughter of Christopher Reeve, just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, who she named after her late dad. So sweet!
Alexandra Reeve, 31, has honored her father, Christopher Reeve‘s memory in the most touching way — by giving her newborn son his namesake. Alexandra and her husband, Garren Givens, welcomed Christopher Russel Reeve Givens on Saturday, June 13 in Washington, D.C. at 8 lbs., 3 oz. Click inside to see the adorable newborn’s first photo!
“He was named after his grandfathers on each side, two very important role models for Garren and Alexandra,” a representative of the family tells PEOPLE. “The entire family is thriving during their first few weeks home.” To see a pic of Alexandra’s bundle of joy, CLICK HERE.
Paying homage even further to Mr. Reeve — famous for playing Superman — the little one is already slipping on a “Team Reeve” tee, to support his late grandfather’s Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. In 2014, the organization broke the happy news that a breakthrough in treatment for spinal cord injuries was discovered.
Christopher Jr. is the couple’s first child since tying the knot in 2008. Before becoming a mother, Alexandra has been working as a Senior Counsel in the United States Senate and she also serves as a professor at Columbia Law School, where she graduated from.
The little one’s dad Garren holds a role in the Obama administration as the Director of the Presidential Innovation Fellows program. The newly-minted parents met each other when they were both students at Yale University.
Although Alexandra and Garren have already achieved so much prior to parenthood, we bet they would consider their brand new roles as Christopher’s mom and dad to be their greatest accomplishment so far. Congrats, you guys!
