Watch out, world — Michael B. Jordan is stepping into the ring, and he’s got his fight face on. Playing Apollo Creed’s son in the upcoming ‘Rocky’ spinoff ‘Creed’, Michael fights to carry on his late father’s legacy. WATCH the trailer here!

Michael B. Jordan, 28, is giving new life to the Rocky franchise in the first look at Creed. The gritty trailer shows the intensity of Michael’s character, Adonis Creed, training to become the ultimate fighter and live up to Apollo Creed’s status — despite his father’s tragic fate. The trailer for the seventh Rocky film in the franchise, released on June 30, will leave you wanting more. Also, Sylvester Stallone is back!

Starting off in pre-fight intensity mode, we’re immediately reminded that Adonis’ father Apollo died in the ring. In case you forgot, Apollo died while battling Russian fighter Drago in Rocky IV. Adonis reveals he never knew his dad as we see photos of Apollo fighting Rocky. However, his dad’s brutal fate does not stop him from living his dream of being a boxer — in fact, it motivates him. We see Adonis put on his gray sweats and begin the intensity of training, much like we saw Rocky do.

Speaking of Rocky, Sylvester takes on the role of mentor in the film, and there’s a ton of parallels to the previous Rocky films. For one, Adonis delivers the big speech from Rocky, and we’re reminded of how powerful it is. “A great fighter once said, it ain’t about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward,” we hear in the voiceover. We also get a glimpse at Adonis’ romantic life and get one particular sexy scene between him and Tessa Thompson.

We can’t wait to see more! Creed looks very promising, as it’s well shot, a mix of old and new story elements and a strong lead actor. Creed opens in theaters on Nov. 25.
