You gotta keep it fresh, right? On a recent episode of ‘Jeopardy,’ host Alex Trebek showed off his versatility– by rapping the ‘Fresh Prince’ theme song. Seriously. Check out this insane clip!
Considering that Jeopardy has been on the air since 1964, you’d think we would know what to expect by now. And yet, longtime host Alex Trebek continues to surprise us. Case in point, on the June 29 episode, he went all out to help contestants guess which iconic ’90s theme song the question was asking for. Yup, Alex went ahead and rapped The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Watch your back, Will Smith. Trust us, you need to watch the hilarious video now!
“In the theme to this ’90s sitcom,” Alex says as we hear the first few notes of that infamous theme song begin to play. And then…it can’t be. He’s not gonna actually– Oh my God, he is. He’s going to rap the clue! “I rolled up to the house about 7 or 8,” he begins to spit, literally making our dreams come true (okay, admittedly, our weirdest dreams, but still, dreams nonetheless).
And, better yet, along with being an utter freaking delight, it seems that Alex’s rap skills were ultimately very helpful for the contestants, too. The question, which was for $800, was correctly answered by one of the competitors pretty much before Alex could even finish his verse– which, frankly, rude! We understand you’ve got a lot of money on the line here, dude, but for cryin’ out loud, when Alex Trebek is rapping, you let the man finish!
What do you think of Alex’s rap skills? Did this video make you LOL or cringe with awkwardness?
