We were shocked when Bill Hudson slammed his famous children, Kate and Oliver Hudson, in a recent interview. But it didn’t phase them, HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned. They may be ‘dead’ to him now, but he’s been ‘dead’ to them for decades. Ouch!
And the Hudson family war continues. Following Oliver Hudson‘s, 38, shocking Father’s Day diss on June 21, his biological father, Bill Hudson, 65, called him and his sister, Kate Hudson, 36, out in a new interview, saying he no longer considers them as his children. And while, to us, that seems pretty harsh, Oliver and Kate aren’t that surprised by his words.
“Kate and Oliver’s reaction to Bill’s comments was surprisingly mild. To them, their father has been pretty much dead to them for decades. They feel like he abandoned them early on and wanted nothing to do with them until they were famous in their own right. Then, he started making money by selling stories and writing a book about Kate and Oliver. He’s hurt them immeasurably over and over again for most of their lives, so his recent comments barely made a dent. It was like a stranger was making these remarks and it certainly didn’t surprise them,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Oliver posted a photo (see it below) of himself with his biological dad, Bill, and his sister, Kate, on Father’s Day, along with the caption: “Happy Abandonment Day.” In response, Bill told Daily Mail, “That was like a dagger to the heart. If what he wanted was me out of their lives, then he’s succeeded. I don’t want to see either of my eldest children ever again. It’s over.”
“I say to them now, ‘I set you free.’ I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own,” he added. “I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life.”
This is so heartbreaking. Instead of bashing each other on social media and in the press, the Hudsons should be trying to work out their differences. Life is too short.
Bill has five children from three different partners — Kate and Oliver are products of his first marriage to Goldie Hawn.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Should Kate and Oliver change their last names? Vote in our poll and tell us how you feel!
