Alicia Keys joined The Weeknd for an insanely sensational duet of his hit ‘Earned It.’ And yeah, this talented twosome absolutely earned the thunderous applause they received for such an incredible performance!
We weren’t sure The Weeknd‘s “Earned It” could get any better. But then we learned that the sexy slow jam was 100% capable of improvement with the welcome addition of a live feature from Alicia Keys, 34, at the 2015 BET Awards. Utter. Perfection.
Why haven’t these two gotten together before? The Weeknd and Alicia proved they were a match made in musical heaven with their magical rendition of “Earned It.” The track, which was originally released as a solo effort from The Weeknd for the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack, was made even more glorious by the triumphant return of Miss Keys.
Alicia, who hasn’t performed live or released any new music in quite some time, had been previously focusing on motherhood before making her way back to the stage. The “Falling” singer welcomed a son with her hubby Swizz Beats in December 2014. Her last Top 40 effort, Girl on Fire, was released back in 2012, scoring her a BET Awards nomination for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.
Well, this girl is on fire yet again — and there’s certainly no stopping her! Alicia opened up about the exciting new material she will be dropping later this year during an interview last summer. “This album is more about the concept, the thought I’m trying to get across, where in the past it’s been more about melody,” she told Women’s Wear Daily.
“This time it’s more about what we’re going through as human beings. We all experience similar things,” the vocal powerhouse added. “I find that the world puts us in these boxes where we’re only allowed to be one way — like, ‘to succeed as a career woman, you need to do it this way,’ or ‘to be a gay man, you have to be this way.'” An idea we can totes stand behind.
Until the new tunes drop, we’ll be watching her inconceivably flawless performance with The Weeknd on replay. HollywoodLifers — what did YOU think of Alicia’s performance? Let us know!
