Kendrick Lamar demonstrated his disdain for the ‘po-po’ during his electrifying performance of ‘Alright’ at the start of the 2015 BET Awards on June 28. Watch it here!
Well, that’s one way to open the 2015 BET Awards. Kendrick Lamar, 28, started the 15th anniversary show with a powerful, politically-charged performance of “Alright,” a song which touches upon the rapper’s “hate” for the “po-po.” While on stage, the rapper even stood on a vandalized police car, which was covered in graffiti.
The rapper seemed to be calling out police for their brutality on the African American community. While Kendrick stood on top of a cop car during his performance, the lyrics to his song speak for themselves.”… and we hate po-po, Wanna kill us dead in the street fo sho.”
Kendrick was also surrounded by a group of supporters, who danced during the performance. And then they marched around stage like an actual army. We don’t know about you, but it definitely caught our attention! And fans have been going wild on Twitter.
