Bobby Jindal wants to take the Big Easy to Washington D.C.! The Governor of Louisiana became the latest person running in the 2016 Presidential Election, announcing his campaign on June 24!

Governor Bobby Jindal, 44, wants to trade the Louisiana Governor’s mansion for the White House! The Republican politician announced that he would run for President in 2016, joining all the other candidates looking to replace President Barack Obama when he leaves office!

Bobby announced his intention to become the next President of the United States of America during an event on June 24. While speaking in the New Orleans suburb of Kenner, Bobby touted his track record as governor. He claimed how he reformed his state’s ethic laws, reformed education and improved his state’s medical laws. Bobby railed against big government, claiming that he did “what they said could not be done” by shrinking Louisiana’s government and he was proud of it!

Prior to his big event, Bobby announced his candidacy on twitter. “I’m running for President of the United States of America,” Bobby tweeted, linking to his videos on his official website. In the vids, Bobby broke the news of his campaign to his family, saying that they “can’t go tell [their] friends.” Seemed they were the first to know!

Unfortunately, Bobby’s event wasn’t as entertaining as that of fellow presidential candidate, Donald Trump. Plus, even though he just announced his candidacy, Bobby faces an uphill battle. There are already 12 other major Republican candidates in the race and Bobby is polling behind all of them, according to the Washington Post. Several polls have shown Bobby just getting 1% of support among Republicans. Yikes!

The 2016 Presidential Election’s Candidates

Now that Bobby’s in the pack, there are currently 13 Republican candidates running for President in 2016. Bobby joins former governors Jeb BushMike HuckabeeGeorge Pataki, and Rick Perry. Former senator Rick Santorum is also running, as are current Senators Rand Paul, Lindsey GrahamMarco Rubio and Ted CruzBusiness moguls Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina are also in the race, along with Dr. Ben Carson.

There aren’t as many candidates on the Democratic side. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is running. Senator Bernie Sanders is looking to become president, as are both former governors Lincoln Chafee and Martin O’Malley. Don’t you dare forget that Waka Flocka Flame‘s running for president, too!

Do you think Bobby Jindal should be the next President of the United States, HollywoodLifers? Out of all those running, which one is your pick?
