It’s finally here! A first trailer for the Netflix series ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ has just been released and it’s even more hilarious than you could have imagined.
On July 31, Netflix will make all our dreams come true, and release an 8-episode miniseries called Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, based of course upon the 2001 cult film, Wet Hot American Summer. In casting news which we still cannot believe, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd and the rest of the original A-list cast are all on board for the hilarious new comedy. Watch the first vintage-inspired trailer right now!
We certainly would, and this informational video only further proves it. In a take off on classic 80s VHS tapes, the promo is styled as a minute long advertisement spot, urging potential campers to enroll.
“Camp Firewood is more than just a summer camp,” a voiceover tells us, as we see B-roll footage of campers having the time of their lives. “Camp Firewood is an idea, a promise, a way of life.”
We then, mercifully, get a glimpse at some of the activities available at Camp Firewood, which also lets us see what our favorite inappropriate camp counsellors will be up to in First Day of Camp. As the title suggests, the series will depict the events of the first day at camp and, unsurprisingly, the counsellors are pretty much up to exactly what we last saw them doing.
Molly Shannon is of course manning the arts and crafts room, Elizabeth Banks waves gleefully to the camera (before accidental footage is shown for a second, clearly showing two people hooking up), and of course, Amy and Bradley are working it out as the thespians they are.
What do you think of this first full trailer? Are you as excited as we are for this new show to drop?
