This is so exciting! First photos from the set of ‘Independence Day 2’ have just been released– and so has the film’s official title! What, you didn’t think they were just gonna leave it at that simple numeral, did ya?
The upcoming Independence Day sequel will be called (drum roll please)… Independence Day Resurgence! The film, which has been given a June 24, 2016 release date, comes almost 20 years after the original movie was released and excitement has definitely been mounting. Original stars Vivica A. Fox and Jeff Goldblum are both on board to return to the franchise, joined by newcomer Liam Hemsworth (!) and now, along with the title, we’ve got out first look at the set of the thrilling followup! Check out the pics!
Fox released the first pictures from the film’s set, and they are all kinds of rad. In the first pic, we see the Moon Tug spacecraft, looking as awesome and powerful as you’d expect. In the second pic, we see the film’s director, Roland Emmerich, posing alongside the beast of a machine.
In the sequel, the story will depict the nations of Earth as they work together on a new defense program designed to protect the planet. This comes on the heels of an imminent alien attack of terrifying force. In other words, all fun and games, right?
We know that Jeff and Vivica will return for the sequel, however, original Independence Day star, Will Smith, will not be a part of the new film. Instead, Jessie Usher will head up the movie as the lead.
What do you think of the new set pics? And how ’bout that title?
