Former ‘Star Wars’ actor Jake Lloyd was arrested in Charleston, South Carolina following a high-speed car chase after he began to drive recklessly on the road. Get the full details here!
The force wasn’t so strong with this one. Jake Lloyd, 26, best remembered for playing young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace in 1999, has been arrested on a number of charges, including driving at high speed, failing to stop for cops, and resisting arrest.
The incident occurred in Charleston, South Carolina, where Jake currently lives. Police reportedly tried to get the Star Wars actor to pull over, but a chase ensued. Several miles down the road, Jake lost control of his vehicle and drove off the road into several trees, according to TMZ.
Deputies claim that Lloyd was driving recklessly, passing cars on the double-yellow line incredibly fast before coming to a crashing halt. He is currently in custody, where he has been charged for driving recklessly, failing to stop, resisting arrest and driving without a license.
Lloyd dropped off the radar a little after being cast in Star Wars as an 8-year-old, but he still managed to score roles in Jingle All The Way and Madison. On top of his film work, he also appeared in recurring TV roles on ER and The Pretender.
Jake Lloyd: ‘Star Wars’ Made His Life Miserable
Back in March 2012, Jake described starring in the cult sci-fi movie as a “living hell,” and it was the main reason he wanted to quit acting.
“Other children were really mean to me,” he recalled of the experience to BlackBook magazine. ‘They would make the sound of the light saber every time they saw me. It was totally mad. My entire school life was really a living hell – and I had to do up to 60 interviews a day.”
What d’you think, HollywoodLifers? Do you have any sympathy for Jake?
