Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell’s highly-anticipated Lifetime movie, ‘A Deadly Adoption,’ aired on June 20, and fans took to Twitter to show their crazy and unexpected reactions to the movie!
No one quite knew what A Deadly Adoption was going to entail when it was announced that comedy duo Kristen Wiig, 41, and Will Ferrell, 47, would be starring in the Lifetime movie. Well, A Deadly Adoption premiered on June 20, and fans went wild over the twists and turns. Some loved it, some hated it, but there’s one thing that A Deadly Adoption did for sure — break the internet!
Honestly, everyone thought A Deadly Adoption was going to be two hours of Kristen and Will poking fun at all those crazy and shocking Lifetime movies we’ve seen over the years. That wasn’t the case with A Deadly Adoption. Kristen and Will’s flick was a typical Lifetime movie. Yes, really. Here’s what the rest of Twitter thought of the flick:
Fan John Ray Rivers thought the Lifetime movie was so great, he watched it three times. He tweeted, ” #ADeadlyAdoption was incredible! @jessicalowndes & the cast were amazing! I watched the @lifetimetv premiere and the 3 back to back encores!” Mark Burkhardt clearly wasn’t expecting Kristen and Will’s movie to actually be a Lifetime movie. He wrote, “#ADeadlyAdoption was the Lifetimeiest Lifetime movie of all.” A fellow surprised fan tweeted, “#ADeadlyAdoption was funny because it was serious in respect to Lifetime logic. All the little things (I’m your mom now) had me in tears.”
One fan praised Kristen’s transformation in the film: “She goes from a sweet suburban housewife to one badass lady who shot someone for stealing her fam #ADeadlyAdoption.” Another fan was pretty shocked he was even watching at all: “Why couldn’t I stop watching #ADeadlyAdoption? #TerriblyGood.”
‘A Deadly Adoption’: The Joke’s On Us
Instead of A Deadly Adoption being one big, obvious parody, Kristen and Will were dedicated to their Lifetime roles. They owned all of the cheesy dialogue and every cliche was played out perfectly. From the tragic miscarriage to the crazy ex-lover, A Deadly Adoption featured all the familiar tropes we’ve seen on Lifetime countless times.
However, as with all Lifetime movies, the movie was insanely watchable. Who else couldn’t wait to see Sarah (Kristen) bounce back and totally slay Bridgette/Joni (Jessica Lowndes) for nearly killing her husband (Will) and daughter (Alyvia Alyn Lind)? Everyone? OK, cool.
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of A Deadly Adoption? Were you expecting it to be so Lifetime-y? Let us know!
