Who ya gonna call? The original ‘Ghostbusters!’ With production set to begin on the female-lead ‘Ghostbusters’ remake, rumors are swirling that two of the film’s original stars will return!

The Ghostbusters remake, which will star Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig, has not even begun filming yet and already has fans flipping out. Adding to the excitement, discussions are now being had with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd to make an appearance in the updated movie. The two, of course, starred in the original 1984 version of the film, so their involvement would basically be a dream come true!

Just like the original Ghostbusters, the film will take place in NYC, but will be filmed in Boston. Thrillingly, production is set to begin this week, which means details about the super-secretive film are slowly starting to leak.

So, what’s the deal with this Aykroyd/Murray cameo? “They are negotiating,” a source told the Boston Herald. “But, of course, no one can get ahold of Murray.” But of course.

As far as plot details, those are beginning to surface as well! “Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real,” the source added. “Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.”

We know, it already sounds amazing– and it gets even better. “Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world,” said the source.

More, more, more please! We’re basically losing our minds in anticipation of the film, which comes from the mind of Paul Feig (you know his work from Bridesmaids), but it’s basically guaranteed to be the movie of our dreams, and we will wait patiently for the perfection.
