Ok, this is a little embarrassing. Donald Trump used Neil Young’s hit song ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’ during his big speech in which he announced he will be running for president and guess what? Neil is not happy about it!
As if Donald Trump, 69, isn’t being mocked enough following his big presidency announcement on June 16, Grammy winning singer Neil Young, 69, is apparently pretty pissed at him now! Donald used Neil’s song “Rockin’ In The Free World” during his speech but the only problem is he didn’t get permission to use it AND Neil isn’t even a supporter of his in the 2016 presidential race! Find out more about this super awkward situation.
“Donald Trump was not authorized to use ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ in his presidential candidacy announcement,” Neil’s rep told the Los Angeles Times. “Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America.”
You know the saying ‘If you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything?” Well, Donald’s bid for presidency had many people throwing that saying out of the window! SO many people mocked the business man after his speech. The hilarious Stephen Colbert was one of them!
He made a video spoofing the announcement where he said, “Donald Trump has announced he is running for president of the United States,” Stephen said. “This will be the finest, most luxurious, gold-plated, diamond-encrusted campaign, that will give hope to a weary nation until together we reach that fine, fall day, when the new season of Celebrity Apprentice premieres.” So funny!
HollywoodLifers, do you think it was wrong of Donald to use Neil’s song without asking him? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
