What a big night for Andre Iguodala! Not only did the Golden State Warriors win the Larry O’Brien Trophy after winning the NBA Championship, but Andre also won the MVP!
Andre Iguodala, 31, made his first start this season during a Game 3 triumph, and since then the Warriors didn’t lose another game. While it was his famous teammates Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, also known as the “Splash Brothers”, who made headlines, it was Andre who was the star MVP for the Warriors.
Andre is a vital team member of the Warriors and he’s been stealing the spotlight for stopping the unstoppable Cavaliers’ LeBron James. He’s physically capable of keeping up with LeBron, and his agility and speed on the court is without a doubt one of the key factors that drove the Warriors to victory. Upon accepting the MVP award, Andre couldn’t help but get visibly emotional about the high honor, and congratulating his team on their NBA Championship Victory. Some believed that the MVP would go to the Warriors key shooter, Steph, who set the NBA single season 3-point record beating out himself.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr has gushed about how great of a player Andre truly is. “He does everything for us,” Steve said, according to ESPN. “He’s our best defender on LeBron. He’s an incredible decision-maker. I mean, seven assists, no turnovers. He rebounds. He guards everybody.”
This is certainly an exciting time for Andre and for the Warriors! They completely dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers after going head to head with them in Game 6 on June 16. In fact, thanks to the many great players on the team, they won their first championship in forty years. That’s definitely something to be proud of.
