To all other 2016 Presidential candidates, Donald Trump has a message for you: you’re fired! The 69-year old business icon and head of The Trump Organization is looking to invest in a new piece of property: the White House! After years of saying that he would run without following through, the man behind The Apprentice took the plunge and announced he’s running for President!
Donald threw his hat, not his hair, into the ring on June 16. Donald teased his announcement on June 15, tweeting that June 16 “[would] be a really big day for America. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” He made his announcement at the world famous Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in New York City, laying out his vision and plans to match his campaign slogan: Make America Great Again.
In his speech, Donald addressed America’s declining manufacturing power, claiming that he would be “the greatest jobs president that god ever created. I will bring back our jobs and I will bring back our money.” Donald also took shots at the other Republicans running in the race, saying that he has the business chops to negotiate the deals that would “make America great again.”
Donald has never been shy about expressing his political opinion. When he’s not blasting Barack Obama for not doing enough, Donald is either demanding birth certificates or telling people to pick him as Vice President. The Don is also no stranger to running for President — or, at least, saying he will. Whenever there’s an election, Donald has said he was thinking about running. He made claims that he would run for President in 1988, 2000, 2004, 2012 and 2016. However, Donald has never officially been a candidate.
To recap – with the Donald, there would be at least twelve candidates for the Republican nomination in 2016. Former governors Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, George Pataki, and Rick Perry are in the race. Former senator Rick Santorum is running, as are current Senators Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. Rounding out the Republicans are Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson. On the Democratic side, there’s former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Senator Bernie Sanders and both former governors Lincoln Chafee and Martin O’Malley. Let us never forget: Waka Flocka Flame‘s running for president, too!
