This is an inspiring trend! Audrey Middleton, a transgender woman, will be in the cast of the new season of ‘Big Brother’– and she was inspired by Caitlyn Jenner.
On June 16, the season 17 cast of Big Brother was announced. One houseguest, Audrey Middleton, has already been open about the fact that she is transgendered, and she will be the show’s first-ever transgendered contestant. Now, we’re learning more about Audrey, 25, and how Caitlyn Jenner motivated her to join the long running series! Before the show debuts in a two-night event on June 24 and 25 on CBS, get to know Audrey– and maybe get a little inspired yourself!
Audrey grew up in Georgia in a small town, where she was born a boy. She transitioned a few years ago, according to TMZ, and her family was not immediately supportive.
Audrey plans to use her time on Big Brother as a way to serve as a role model for other trans people, similar to what Caitlyn has done and continues to do. In fact, Audrey was somewhat inspired to join the series after having seen all the good that Caitlyn has been doing. However, it should also be noted, that Audrey has been a fan of the show for a long while, and may have wanted to do it regardless (sorry, Caitlyn, you can’t get all the credit!).
While homophobia has certainly been present on Big Brother before, Audrey is reportedly ready to take on whatever issues she may face in the house from her fellow houseguests. In fact, Audrey is excited to use the incidences as “a teaching moment” for everyone.
We love to see courage like that, and we can only hope that people like Audrey and Caitlyn will continue to inspire awesome bravery like this!
Are you excited to see the first trans contestant on Big Brother?
