Oh, #AquaBae! Week four of ‘AGT’ auditions got a little extreme, but nothing was as intense as one act’s gravity-defying flyboarding skills — or seriously good looks! Yep, we’re talking about you, Damone Rippy.
The fourth week of auditions of America’s Got Talent sure were something else, huh? In the first round of “extreme” auditions, we saw everything from a man jumping out of a helicopter to life-threatening motocross tricks. But our favorite performance of the night came from Damone Rippy, 16, (aka Aqua Bae) — an incredibly talented flyboarder, who melted the hearts of judges Heidi Klum, 41, Mel B, 39, Howie Mandel, 59, and even Howard Stern, 61! Read on for the highlights from the June 16 show!
Before we get to the other contestants from tonight’s episode, let’s first show Damone the love he deserves. Walking up to introduce himself to the judges, we could already tell we were going to like this kid. That swoon-worthy smile. The impressive flash of abs. This guy was already a perfect 10 even before he began his audition!
Once we were able to stop staring at his six-pack and lift our jaws from the floor, it was time to see Mr. Rippy do his thing! What is that exactly? Oh you know, just flying and flipping through the air above a lake with a water jetpack attached to his feet. If you don’t believe us, just take a look at the video above — and prepare to be amazed!
His biggest fan on the AGT panel? Surprisingly, Howard! “That was exciting man. I said, ‘The guy looks like a superhero,'” he raved to the high schooler. “I was so jealous when you were up there. If only I was man enough to do that thing!” Obvi, the radio host gave Damone a big, fat yes and so did the rest of the judges, much to the delight of teen girls everywhere — meaning there’s more #AquaBae to come!
Other acts that wowed us? Cliff Ryder, a base jumper who…(wait for it)…free fell out of a helicopter from 3,000 feet in the air! His brush with death had the judges biting their nails, but ultimately won them over. “So dangerous! So thrilling! This is something I really want to see more of,” Howie told the daredevil. We agree!
Next up: Metal Mulisha, a group of 30-something-year-old best buds who have been doing motocross together since they were teenagers. After an anxiety-inducing-yet-thrilling bike routine, Mel couldn’t hold back her excitement. “Not only are you all crazy,” she teased them. “But you king of left me wanting more in a sickly way!” With the former Spice Girl’s seal of approval — and yeses from all the other judges, these dudes were on their way to the next round!
Before these stuntmen showed off their talents, some tamer acts also impressed the judges earlier in the night. Standouts included Daniella Mass, 22, a Colombian-born opera singer and a ladder-climber, Uzeyer, 29, who channeled black and white movie icon, Charlie Chaplin.
Unfortunately, one singer-dancer named Hanako Matsuyama gave a really flat performance and was sent home after Heidi and Mel gave pressed down on their red X buttons. Better luck next time, girl!
