Believe it or not, Chris Pratt was not always the hunky movie star he is today. Let’s take a look back at some of his exciting — and maybe not-so-exciting — roles over the years!
Did you know that Chris Pratt, 35, once made a movie with Kim Kardashian, 34? Probably not! The Jurassic World star first started acting back in 2000, and just 15 years later he is now a bonafide movie star with major blockbuster hits under his belt. But, it wasn’t all lead roles and #1 box office hits for Chris. Just wait until you see some of his career highlights!
‘Cursed Part 3′ Changes Chris’ Life. When Chris scored his first-ever movie role, he was working as a waiter and living in his van (with a friend) in Hawaii. Even crazier? He was only paid $800 for the gig! However, it hadn’t been for that role, he may have never packed up and moved to California to pursue a career in the industry.
‘Everwood’ (2002 – 2006) Was His Big Break. It wasn’t long until Chris landed his first major TV role as Bright Abbott on Everwood alongside Emily Van Camp, who he also dated in real life. While he was filming the teen drama series (below left gif), he also made a handful of not-so-great movies that helped build up his acting resume. After Everwood, Chris made the jump to The O.C. were he once appeared naked. See below gif (right) for proof!
‘Wanted’ (2008) Helped Him Into Film. Still trying to make his mark in movies, Chris played what can only be described as the “office jerk” opposite James McAvoy in the action flick, Wanted. Thankfully, this led him to roles in Bride Wars (2009) alongside Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson, as well as Jennifer’s Body (2009) where he portrayed a creep trying to hook up with Megan Fox… before she becomes a flesh-eating demon.
‘Take Me Home Tonight’ (2011): Chris Falls In Love. Now, this is where his personal life and acting career collide into one major highlight. Chris met his wife, Anna Faris, on the set of their film, Take Me Home Tonight. They fell in love hard and were married in mid-2009. By the time their movie came out (2011), they welcomed their first son, Jack. But, before this particular highlight, Chris starred in a (pretty terrible) porn-centric comedy called Deep In The Valley, (2009) where he shared the screen with Kim Kardashian. Yes, really!
‘Parks and Recreation’ (2009 – 2015) Turns Chris Into Andy. Finally, we’re onto the role Chris is best known for playing: the lovable, squish-able, totally clueless Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation. The role started out as a guest spot that was supposed to end after season 1, but Andy became such a fan-favorite that Chris was promoted to the main cast and stuck with the show all the way to it’s series finale in 2015.
‘Moneyball’ & ‘Zero Dark 30’ Take Chris To The Oscars. Okay, technically Chris himself has never been nominated for the coveted golden statue, but some of his best films were. First he starred as a recently recruited major league baseball player in Moneyball alongside Brad Pitt, and then in Zero Dark Thirty he portrayed one of the Navy S.E.A.L.S. who were part of the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden. This definitely left a huge and very impressive mark on Chris’ resume. Plus, it was his role in ZDT that inspired Chris to get back in shape and stay in shape for good.
2014: The Year Of Chris Pratt. Star status was imminent for Chris, and once director James Gunn took a chance on him by casting him as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, he finally reached it. Not only did the Marvel underdog exceed expectations, it was one of the top 3 grossing films of the year. Plus, his animated film The Lego Movie was released the same year, and was ALSO one of the top 3 grossing films of the year. Talk about making bank!
