We still can’t believe Diem Brown passed away less than a year ago. After battling cancer twice, the reality star died after a fearless fight with a third round of the disease. We’d like to remember the courageous MTV beauty today, on June 12 — which would have been her 35th birthday.
When the world lost Diem Brown on November 14, 2014 — fans of The Challenge contestant were completely devastated. Diem handled the real-life challenge of being diagnosed with cancer three times, making a mark through her incredible spirit of optimism. Take a look at our photo gallery and relive some of Diem’s most memorable moments!
With her big, bright smile and quirky sense of humor, Diem quickly became a fan favorite on The Challenge when she first made her debut on the show in 2006. For seasons to come, Diem would continue kicking butt in between bouts of cancer battles.
Impressively, Diem never gave up the fight no matter what. Up until her last days, she never stopped seeking guidance, advice or a solution to her sickness. “I NEED PRAyErs and advice my doctors are seemingly giving up but I won’t & can’t rollover,” she wrote on Twitter, three days before her tragic passing. “Whatever option I have to LIVE I’m grabbing!… Need prayers, advice, support & outreach. No is not an option.”
Miss Brown’s final face-off with cancer was her worst. Diagnosed last summer, she had previously beaten the disease in 2006 and again in 2012. Her prognosis was more dire the third and last time, since the ovarian cancer had spread to her colon and stomach lining. Even weeks before she died, Diem maintained a positive attitude. “I’ll beat cancer again,” she told Us Weekly last fall. “I’m a warrior.”
A warrior she was. After successfully competing on seven seasons of The Challenge, Diem made a difference in the world by fulfilling philanthropic endeavors. She founded MedGift, a charity organization that offered a platform for medical patients to create gift registries so that loved ones can provide help in the best way possible. Before her death, Diem’s own MedGift page recently raised $72,000 dollars. While she’s no longer with us, Diem will never be forgotten thanks to the legacy that lives on through her immense bravery, which touched so many people’s lives.
