Oh no! After nearly three decades together, are Homer and Marge Simpson calling it quits on ‘The Simpsons?’ We’ve got the divorce deets!
Since it premiered in 1989, Homer and Marge Simpson have been relationship goals (before that was even an expression)! However, in heartbreaking news, on The Simpsons upcoming 27th season, the two will hit a rough patch– and it might even mean the end of their marriage!
Well, after so many years on the air, Simpsons producer Al Jean was bound to shake things up a bit, right? Discussing what’s ahead in the new season, Al said that Marge and Homer’s troubles will come to a boil, but perhaps for different reasons than what you expected.
“In the premiere, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage,” Al told our sister site Variety. “Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham. We’ll have cameos from the other women from Girls.”
But, but… They can’t split up! Please guys, stay together for the kids? Stay together for Santa’s Little Helper’s sake?
The upcoming season won’t be all bad news, though. Al also teased some super exciting storylines. “We have an episode based on the film Boyhood,” he said. “It’s a flashback/flashforward about Bart. We go to various points in his life and his life to come which I think came out really well.”
We also can look forward to some more topical arcs! “We’re definitely going to have Homer vote in 2016,” Al said. “One aspect of the pickup that made me happy is that Homer can vote again. He voted for Romney in 2012 because he invented Obamacare. He tried to voted for Obama in 2008 but all his votes went to McCain.”
Are you sad that Homer and Marge are going to split up?
