Stumped when it comes to ideas for your prom hairstyle? Look no further — we’ve got expert tips on how to get luscious, glossy waves like the ones Charlotte McKinney and Hannah Davis rocked at the Guys’ Choice Awards! Hint: there’s LOTS of volume involved!

Models Charlotte McKinney and Hannah Davis make perfect hair look easy, but we all know it’s not that simple. Fortunately, we had experts weigh in on their lovely locks, as seen at Spike TV’s Guys Choice 2015 on June 6 in Culver City, California. With these how-tos, you can get swimsuit model-ready hair at home. Your prom look just got even more glam!

Summer is on the way, and beachy waves like Charlotte’s are one of the hottest looks for the upcoming season. Stylist Breno Miranda at the Louis Licari salon in NYC gave us the lowdown on how to get the Guess Girl’s natural, freeform waves.

Since it’s “a little challenging to make it look effortless,” Breno says, “product is key here.” Challenge accepted! For bouncy body and a textured finish like Charlotte’s, Breno recommends using a mousse “on the midshaft and ends.” We like Oribe’s Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse for a luxe option. Next, Breno says to “blowdry with a metal ceramic brush [like Drybar’s Full Pint Medium Round Brush] to get the bend on the ends.”

To keep it all in place, “finish by pulling hair to one side and spray with a light holding hairspray,” Breno advises. Charlotte uses the new line of Matrix Style Link products — try the brand’s Biolage Styling Freeze Fix Anti-Humidity Hairspray for a humidity-resistant, fast-drying spray. For extra prom flair, add a rhinestone barrette or your favorite sparkly headband!

Hannah Davis At The Guys’ Choice Awards: Get Her Glam Curls

Soft, large curls like Hannah’s can be yours with just a little effort. Breno says that Hannah’s hair can be achieved by going for a “smooth blowout.” If outsourcing your efforts to a professional, be sure to request lots of body!

At home, you can use “old fashioned velcro rollers” like the Conair Think Big Self Grip Velcro Rollers. “Set the 2.5 inch rollers on the whole head and let cool,” Breno instructs, then “release and get glorious, bouncy hair!” We like the sound of that (and you can paint your nails or apply makeup while the rollers are doing their job).

There are so many styles that work for prom, but big waves and curls like Charlotte’s and Hannah’s are some of our favorite looks. Doing your own hair can be fun and satisfying — just be sure to give yourself enough time to get the look you want!
