‘Laguna Beach’ may have been what catapulted Kristin Cavallari to fame, but in recent years, she’s been continuously putting the show on blast. In a new interview, Kristin once again disses her reality series, admitting that it ‘turned into a soap opera.’
Kristin Cavallari, 28, hasn’t held back her feelings about Laguna Beach and The Hills, and she’s at it again in a new interview with Elle.com! The former reality star once again opens up about being manipulated by the show’s producers, and recalls how hurt she felt while watching certain scenes.
The 28-year-old mom of two starred on Laguna Beach when she was just a teenager, and admits she had no idea what she was getting into when she signed up. “No one knew what the show was going to become, obviously,” she explains. “I had envisioned it being like…do you remember True Life on MTV? I thought it was going to be like that. None of us knew that it was going to be turned into a soap opera.”
In fact, Kristin’s main storyline might have been the most dramatic, soap opera-esque of them all: She was plotted in a love triangle with her real boyfriend, Stephen Colletti, and his pal, Lauren Conrad. “I also didn’t realize the love triangle was going on,” she admits. “Stephen was my real boyfriend, so that was really difficult for me to watch. Even though a lot of it was manipulated and for the show, it’s still hard to see your boyfriend going and hanging out with a girl that he probably normally wouldn’t. It was tough for me.”
Of course, these days, Kristin is so far removed from her life back then — she’s happily married to Chicago Bears quarterback, Jay Cutler, with two kids and a third on the way. The designer announced her exciting pregnancy news on May 11, gushing, “We’re at it again! Thrilled to announce baby number 3 is on the way! The cutler crew just keeps growin’!”
The baby news comes comes just days after Kristin and Jay’s second son, Jaxon, celebrated his first birthday, so the Cutlers really are moving fast! “I sort of have stepped out of the public eye and it’s been really refreshing,” she tells Elle. “I was a little nervous at first, to be honest, just because I didn’t…It’s sort of always been engrained in me that if you want to be in the entertainment business, you either have to be in L.A. or New York. And so when I married Jay, I officially moved to Chicago. I was a little scared. I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted to do with my career, but everything has sort of fallen into place with the shoes, especially, the jewelry, and now this book.”
Kristin’s lifestyle book, Balancing In Heels, is expected to be released in 2016, and will feature topics including parenting, being a wife, health and business.
