Former playmate Holly Madison has spilled the beans on her ‘Playboy Mansion hell’ in a revealing new interview. One super shocking secret? Hugh Hefner liked getting his girlfriends to turn on one another!
She’s not holding back! Holly Madison, 35, is finally lifting the lid on what life was like under the watchful eye of Hugh Hefner, 89 — and it wasn’t pretty! Promoting her new tell-all book, Down The Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures And Cautionary Tales Of A Former Playboy Bunny, the blonde beauty opens up about jealousy, curfews, and name-calling — among many other horrific details. However, Holly says one way in which Hef really hurt her was by having his harem of girlfriends pitted against her. Yikes!
When Holly entered the mansion in 2001, she was forced to face hazing from other centerfolds who had higher reserve with Mr. Hefner. “There were always different political alliances with the girls,” she tells the June 22 issue of Us Weekly. “Hef liked to play the main girlfriend off the youngest one to try and create competition.”
Being the youngest bunny in the house at the time, Holly was subject to relentless “mean-girling” from the others living under Hef’s roof. The worst of it? “During dinners or movie screenings, it wasn’t out of the ordinary for me to overhear their loud whispers criticizing my appearance (my face, my hair, my clothes),” the Alaska-native writes in her memoir (out June 23).
But wait — it gets worse! “According to their ruthless taunting, I was the ‘hick girl’ from Nowheresville, USA. They found my optimistic attitude corny and my confidence threatening, so they did whatever they could to tear me down,” the mom to daughter, Rainbow, 2, describes. “Sadly I have to say it worked.” Poor girl! Pretty pathetic that Hef would take pleasure in seeing Holly be picked on, right?
The nightmare of living in the iconic Playboy quarters didn’t end with cat fights and cruel remarks from other models. In addition to fending off her haters, Holly shares that at just 21 years old, she met Hef at a nightclub where he offered her “thigh-opening” drugs — which became the very first night she ever stayed at the mansion!
“‘Would you like a Quaalude?’ Hef asked, leaning toward me with a bunch of large horse pills in his hands, held together by a crumpled tissue,” Holly remembers in her book. While she declined Hef’s invite, it only made her more attractive to the man more than twice her age.
“‘Okay, that’s good,’ he said, nonchalantly. ‘Usually, I don’t approve of drugs, but you know, in the ’70s they used to call these pills thigh openers,” a now 35-year-old Holly adds. Um, gross!
Even though she said no to drugs, Holly accepted Hef’s offer to stay over at his world-famous home that same evening — a decision she deeply regrets. “I want to scream ‘PAUSE!’ and freeze-frame that moment of my life,” the former Girls Next Door star divulges. “I want to grab that young girl, shake her back into reality and scream, ‘What the hell are you thinking?'”
