The girls finally escaped Charles’ wrath, but their pain and suffering wasn’t over. On the June 9 episode of ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ our girls attempted to adjust after their hellish experience with Charles.
Pretty Little Liars hasn’t been making life easy for our girls in season six. On the June 9 episode, the girls fought to get their lives back to normal after their stay in Charles’ dollhouse of hell. The girls coped in various ways, Alison (Sasha Pieterse) began questioning her father about Charles, Andrew (Brandon Jones) was arrested and a new hottie made his entrance in Rosewood!
The girls were back in the real world, but it didn’t mean Charles was gone for good. They were pretty certain Andrew and Charles were the same person. At this point, they just wanted someone to be punished for what they went through.
Well, that was going to be something that could be easily done. Toby discovered Andrew in the woods, and if another cop hadn’t shown up, Toby would have definitely beaten the bejeezus out of him. Righteous and law-abiding Toby kicked in after some persuasion, and he arrested Andrew.
Meanwhile, Mr. DiLaurentis was PISSED that Alison put herself in danger to help get the girls back. Hey, for all the hell Alison put them through over the years, it was the least she could do, Mr. D. Out of nowhere, Alison dropped a bombshell question on her father: Who is Charles DiLaurentis? Mr. D refused to answer the question. He completely denied Charles’ existence. Okay, someone’s definitely lying.
‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: Coming Home
While they were still in the hospital, Emily went to visit Sara Harvey. Sara admitted she ran away two years ago and was kidnapped by Charles. When Emily started asking her whether she ever saw Charles’ face, Sara instantly clammed up.
All the girls finally returned home, but home wasn’t as comforting as they would have liked. It was as if they were returning to Charles’ dollhouse. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t escape him. Aria wanted to talk to the police ASAP. She wanted Andrew to burn for what she *thought* he did. On the other hand, Spencer was concerned about her meds. She flipped when her mother wouldn’t let her take an anti-anxiety pill. Geez, Mrs. Hastings, let the girl rest.
Charles may have been able to control the girls in his dollhouse, but Emily was refusing to be a victim now that she had escaped. She found her dad’s guns and headed to the gun range. However, Charles continued to haunt everyone. One terrifying flashback showed Emily having to choose which friend got zapped/electrocuted/whatever. Yikes.
‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: Changes, Changes, Changes
Aria seemed to be the one Liar who was coping the best. She hit up The Brew and ran into Ezra. In his perfect Prince Charming way, Ezra asked Aria how she was doing. He was gentle and kind towards her. He thought maybe Aria would write down her experiences, but she snapped that she was ready to put it all behind her. So much so that she was willing to possibly put an innocent man behind bars.
Aria went to the police station to give her statement. She was adamant that Charles and Andrew were the same person. In a brief but huge lapse in judgment, Aria said that she saw Andrew without his mask while she was in the dollhouse. Andrew is definitely guilty of something, but being Charles/”A” might not be it.
Hanna was ready for a drastic change in her life. When she returned home, she wanted to change everything about her room. The walls, the bed, all the decor had to go. Later, Hanna sat alone in her bare room. Every ounce of her past room was gone, as if she was free of one grasp Charles had on her. Ashley found Hanna and asked what happened in the dollhouse. Hanna confessed that all Charles did was play creepy and sadistic games with them. I knew Charles was nuts, but he is officially bonkers. All that happened down in the hellhole was cruel and unusual punishment towards the girls.
Alison was trying to live life as normally as possible now that she was a free woman, and it appeared that our girl might have some love this season. When she met up with Toby, she was introduced to newbie Lorenzo. Every PLL fan saw that flirty eye Alison gave Lorenzo. With that incredible jawline and pretty face, Alison and Lorenzo is going to happen.
‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: Doubt
After going behind her back, Emily’s mom was furious with her for breaking into the safe and using her dad’s guns. At this stage in the game, Emily and all the girls need to be able to use a weapon. Charles doesn’t play around. Paige’s name made its way into the conversation, and Emily’s confession broke the Paily fandom. “She told me she wanted to come back,” Emily said. “I told her not to.”
Caleb proved he was and will always be the best boyfriend ever. “Have I ever told you I think you’re the bravest person I’ve ever met?” Caleb told Hanna. Swoon. Hanna refused to accept his compliment and admitted she was afraid of not being able to ever look the girls in the eye the same way again. Caleb told her she would have to mend. She would adapt to this new life post-Charles, and she would come out on the other side just fine.
Sleeping wasn’t exactly on the agenda for the girls. Emily sat by her window just staring into the night. She put on her dad’s army jacket again and walked outside. She heard a noise and discovered Sara Harvey. She’d run away again. She didn’t have the best welcoming back home. She asked Emily about Andrew’s arrest and questioned whether or not he was Charles. The doubt that had been lingering within all the girls just couldn’t contain itself any longer.
The girls started questioning everything they thought they knew about Andrew and Charles. Andrew was protesting his innocence, and Alison was beginning to investigate her family history. This breakthrough may finally lead to some new answers and justice. Also, can we take a moment to admire Aria’s “Barf” T-shirt? I need that shirt NOW.
