In Bravo’s new series, ‘Odd Mom Out,’ the Upper East Side is taking center stage– and so too are the moms that inhabit it. Ahead of the big premiere, we chatted EXCLUSIVELY with star Alice Callahan about what to expect!
Bravo is bringing us a whole new crop of New York women in its brand new series, Odd Mom Out, which will premiere on June 8. However, unlike the Real Housewives of New York, these ones are significantly less “Real” as Mom is a scripted show. But just because the comedy isn’t documenting real-life events, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t rooted in reality! We spoke EXCLUSIVELY with series star Alice Callahan about if she’s playing a “bitch”– and whether she’s drawing inspiration from Bethenny Frankel!
“I play someone who is used to a level of wealth and comfort,” Alice revealed to us EXCLUSIVELY at the Many Hopes Gala on June 4. “I’m not trying to be a bitch, but I’ve been comfortable for a very long time, so I’m a bit self absorbed but well meaning,” she added.
Of course, starring in a show about the wealthy women of Manhattan, we had to ask Alice her thoughts on those other Manhattan ladies. “I’ve seen [RHONY],” she said, laughing. “I don’t watch it very much.” Okay, but did she draw inspiration from any of the Housewives, or perhaps another real life New Yorker when creating her character?
“She’s not really based on anyone,” said Alice. “I don’t think– not that I could say if it was anyway!” Smart move, girl!
As far as the rest of the series, which stars SNL alum Abby Elliot as the lead, Alice said that it’s going to bring the laughs. “Everyone that’s a part of the show is so funny,” she said. “It will make you laugh a lot.”
Rich New York women and guaranteed laughs? We’re on board!
Odd Mom Out premieres on Bravo on June 8 at 10 pm. Will you tune in?
