It’s always exciting when Apple makes a new announcement, but now they’ve revealed a brand-new music streaming service, as well as a 24/7 live broadcast radio station, and Connect — a way to do just that with your favorite artists, including Drake!
The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! After Apple acquired Beats Electronics last year for $3 billion, they finally announced the exciting details about their new streaming music service, radio station, and so much more at the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, 2015. We have all the details about the music service and more exciting Apple updates — including how much it costs.
It took a year for Apple to reveal their massive plans for Beats Electronics, but it was worth it. On Monday morning in a room full of tech developers and press, everyone’s favorite tech corporation revealed three awesome new features for it’s live music streaming service, Apple Music.
For starters, their new streaming service is completely customizable. Not only can you stream music from all over the world, you can listen to new music, watch music videos, and — this might be the best part — Apple Music will create playlists just for you based off of your favorite artists and recently downloaded music. The interface is also incredible and so simple to use with a “scroll and select” functionality that anyone can get the hang of.
On top of Apple Music, the company also revealed Beats One radio — a 24/7 live broadcast radio station that Apple is working hand-in-hand with international DJ, Zane Lowe, to curate. The station will feature different radio shows broadcasting from NYC, LA, and London, and Apple has some of your favorite artists creating shows as we speak.
Last but certainly not least, Connect will give Apple users a one-on-one experience with their favorite artists. For this section, Drake stopped by the conference to help introduce the new experience. Every artist will have their own page — from the chart toppers to the indie names you don’t yet know — where they can share exclusive pictures, notes, videos, and music clips.
So, how much will Apple Music cost? A cool $9.99/month. In case you aren’t sure yet whether or not you want to sign up, Apple is offering the first three months for FREE. And yes, Android users, you’ll have your chance to download the app in late 2015.
