When the Duggars sat down with Megyn Kelly for their June 3 interview, Jim Bob and Michelle spoke at length about Josh Duggar’s molestation scandal. They also told some major lies, according to a new report!
Josh Duggar’s parents, Jim Bob Duggar, 49 and Michelle Duggar, 48, spoke with Megyn Kelly, 44 on the June 3 episode of The Kelly File in the first interview since Josh’s molestation scandal broke. The Duggars shared their side of the story, but they also said some half-truths and outright lies! A new report from InTouch magazine collected all the instances when the Duggars lied to Megyn and we’ve got the biggest fibs the 19 Kids & Counting stars told.
The Duggars did NOT cooperate fully with the police.
The Duggars said that they “trusted” the cops and gave the impression that they worked with the Springdale Police Department’s investigation. However, the Springdale Police report, which InTouch attained legally, shows that Jim didn’t bring Josh in for a police-requested interview and that’s when they stopped cooperating with the probe.
Josh Duggar’s Molestation Report Was NOT Released Illegally
Jim Bob said the Springdale police chief, Kathy O’Kelley, may have taken a bribe in exchange for releasing the 2006 report! They even threatened to sue, claiming the report was released illegally. This is not true. InTouch legally attained both the first and the second police report through the Freedom of Information Act — and they have the paperwork to prove it! Because Josh was a legal adult and the appropriate information in the report was redacted, the documents were not protected. Everything InTouch attained was on the level.
The Duggars broke the law by not reporting the abuse sooner
Jim Bob told Megyn that he and Michelle were “not mandatory reporters,” and the law “allows parents to do what they think is best for their child.” A mandatory reporter is someone who is legally required to report abuse if it’s observed or suspected. While Jim Bob is correct that he’s not a mandatory reporter, by allowing over seven instances of abuse to happen in a period over a year without reporting the crime, he and his wife could have been charged with Permitting Abuse of a Minor. The sentence includes a $10,000 fine and up to six years in jail.
It should be noted that, according to ChildWelfare.gov, clergy members in Arkansas ARE mandatory reporters. If any of Josh Duggar’s church officials knew he sexually molested five underage girls, they had to report the crime to the police.
Jim Bob Deliberately Sought Out The Child Porn Cop
When Jim Bob took Josh to the police, they were paired up with Trooper Jim Hutchins, who is now serving a 56-year prison term on child porn charges. Jim Bob said that this was a coincidence and that he didn’t know the cop. However, when speaking to InTouch, Jim Hutchens said he knew Jim Bob and that the he specifically wanted him to talk to Josh. “[Jim Bob] called me by phone,” Jim said, “he just said he needed to talk with me about a matter. He didn’t explain what he got there.”
What do you think about this new report that the Duggars lied, HollywoodLifers?
