Connor Cruise must have felt the hate from Caitlyn Jenner supporters — because he’s totally backtracking from his recent diss of the former Olympian! Now, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s son has taken to Twitter to defend himself and insist he supports Caitlyn. Read the tweet here!
Connor Cruise, 20, is in major defense mode after dissing Caitlyn Jenner, 65, on Twitter! Tom Cruise><, 52, and Nicole Kidman’s, 47, son, has deleted his harsh tweets, and is now saying he was completely misunderstood in his social media rant. Read his new message of support here!
“Totally twisting what I said, if you read what I said I totally support begin happy and am glad she is happy,” Connor clarified on June 3. However, it may be too little too late. The 20-year-old’s original tweets, indicating that Caitlyn should not win the ESPY Arthur Ashe Courage Award, have already gone viral.
“Really?? Winning the AA award for courage?? Ashton is gonna come out and yell PUNK’D,” he wrote, and deleted. “Don’t get me wrong. Do what you feel like doing and don’t let anyone stop you. But everyone is taking this way too seriously…There are so many more important things that should be talked about…”
But wait, it gets worse. From there, Connor flat-out said that Caitlyn doesn’t deserve the ESPY Award. “And SO MANY MORE IMPORTANT PEOPLE that actually deserve an award,” he concluded. Ouch! He did originally also say, “I’m totally supportive of people staying true to themselves and finding true happiness in whatever they can. There are just more things we as a nation and as a planet should be talking about and working on.”
Unfortunately, Connor doesn’t seem to realize that, for some people, lack of acceptance is one of the biggest problems the world needs to solve. Even in clarifying his comments, he added, “Way more about the problems the world needs to solve than about her guys.”
And sadly, Connor is far from the only one who hasn’t had the most positive reaction to Caitlyn’s reveal. In fact, a group of haters even organized an online petition on June 1, the same day of Caitlyn’s Vanity Fair cover debut, claiming the reality star violated gender rules while competing in the Olympics — and even calls her heroic gold medal win a “problem!”
“We congratulate Ms. Jenner on these new developments and wish her the best,” the petition reads. “However, this creates somewhat of a problem as Ms. Jenner (as talented as she is) claims that she has always believed herself to be truly female, and therefore, was in violation of committee rules regarding women competing in men’s sports and vice versa.”
The petition was shockingly signed by hundreds of supporters within one hour. This is totally nuts! Caitlyn, Bruce Jenner at the time, worked incredibly hard for this achievement, and should by no means have to give that up!
