While the world continues to be amazed by Bruce Jenner’s transformation into Caitlyn Jenner, the cast of ‘Transparent’ is applauding her brave new identity. Will Caitlyn be making her scripted series debut on the groundbreaking Amazon original show? The cast hopes so!
When Caitlyn Jenner‘s big reveal dropped in Vanity Fair on June 1, the actors of the show Transparent had high praise for the 65-year-old former Olympian. The critically acclaimed comedy/drama features Jeffrey Tambor as Maura Pfeffeman, a man in his 60’s who finally reveals his true self as a woman to his grown family. Sounds a little familiar? Now the cast of the show are pleading with Caitlyn to make a guest appearance!
One of the show’s stars, Melora Hardin, reveals that she would love Caitlyn to make a guest appearance on their show. “Oh god, she’s incredible, we should, we should try” she said of the reality star. “To be that brave — it’s just really, it’s profound. It’s profound and I think the photos are gorgeous” the actress told Us magazine. The show’s Bradley Whitford had high praise for how Jenner has handled the transition, noting “I watched the (Diane Sawyer) interview and I thought Jenner was spectacular. I mean, it was striking. It was such grace under pressure and being so public about something so intimate and just, it was hard to take your eyes off it because it was so obviously the truth about this person.”
Actress Gaby Hoffman who plays daughter Ali Pfefferman on the critically praised comedy/drama added: “I hope that Caitlyn’s coming out, that Caitlyn’s transition into becoming who she wants to be, will elicit compassion and understanding and generosity in everybody’s hearts and minds, which I think is the point of everything we’re doing and what everyone needs to do for the world to become the better place it should be.”
‘Transparent’ Based On Real Life
Transparent is based on creator Jill Soloway‘s real life experience with her father transitioning to a woman later in life. Since it’s debut it’s picked up the Golden Globe for Best Television Series Comedy or Musical in Jan. 2015, with Jeffrey taking home the trophy for Best Actor. He also won in that category during the May 31 Critics Choice Awards ceremony. On the show he plays a retired college professor in Los Angeles who comes out to his family as transgenger, changing from Mort to Maura. Amazon has already picked up the show for a second season, which will be released later in 2015.
Caitlyn has seen overwhelming support since the Vanity Fair released the cover photo, even breaking a Twitter record of fastest member to reach one million followers, which she accomplished in under four hours. She’ll have her own eight part reality series on E! airing this summer documenting her transformation, but given the subject matter Caitlyn could have a great impact appearing on Transparent.
