When will my life begin? Well, right now! ‘Tangled’ is getting its very own TV series on Disney channel– and original cast members, Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, are both signed on to reprise their roles!
Before Frozen came in and redefined the word, Disney’s Tangled was also a hit. The 2010 film told the story of a modernized Rapunzel (Mandy Moore), and her captive, Flynn Ryder (Zachary Levi), who happens to be the kingdom’s most wanted bandit. In the best news we’ll hear all week, Disney has announced plans to bring the animated musical to the small screen with a scripted series beginning in 2017!
The Disney series, which does not yet have a precise premiere date, comes on the heels of the net’s 2012 short, Tangled Ever After. The show will, interestingly, take place between the events of the original movie and that short film.
In the show, Rapunzel is getting to know her parents, as well as the Corona citizens. According to an official description, it will focus upon “her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity about the world [which] drives her to the realization that there is so much more she needs to learn before she can truly accept her royal destiny. She boldly puts her crown and impending marriage on hold to seek out epic adventures, much to the dismay of the King who, after missing out on Rapunzel’s youth, must accept that his daughter is now an independent young woman.”
Also, in what might be the best news about the entire project, along with returning stars Mandy and Zachary, much of the film’s creative team has also signed on for the series as well. The film’s composer (and legendary Disney hit-maker) Alan Menken is on board for the show, as well as Tangled lyricist, Glenn Slater.
What do you guys think about a Tangled TV show? Are you excited to see it?
