We’re officially naming Nina Dobrev the queen of the cat eye, after she showed up at the CFDA Awards in NYC with her best take on the winged look yet. Find out how you can copy her cat eye, and why it’s her favorite eye makeup look.
Nina Dobrev, 26, looked like a princess when she attended the CFDA Awards on June 1 in a metallic top and soft, feathered skirt combo from designer Lela Rose. To play against her feminine outfit, Nina paired a strong cat eye with an otherwise equally ethereal hair and makeup look that’s easy to recreate and perfect for summer.
In a recent interview with Beauty High, Nina said that while she doesn’t like to wear much makeup when she’s not working, the classic cat eye is her makeup look of choice. Nina told the site: “If I want to punch it up, I’ll do a cat-eye. A cat-eye is always fun.”
Makeup Artist Gita Bass created Nina’s poreless complexion, glossy pink lips and precisely applied cat eye. To get Nina’s perfect cat eye, before lining the eyes, apply a soft shimmering shadow like NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Silk Road. Sweep the lighter shade across your entire lid, then apply the darker shade along the crease and outer corner. For Nina’s perfect cat eye, Gita used Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Pencil in Matte Black on the top and bottom lid, with MAC Fluidline Gel Liner in Blacktrack over top.

For her soft, undone hair, Christopher Naselli used Leonor Greyl products. Keeping a natural bend to the hair, Christopher pulled the top half of Nina’s hair back to show off her makeup and gorgeous earrings.
