Nia Guzman and Chris Brown, you are the parents of a beautiful little girl — Royalty, 1. Now, new reports say that you could be headed to court to hash out support payments. Guys, try to work it out amicably and do what’s best for your little precious.
Chris Brown and Nia Guzman, you both love your daughter, Royalty, to high heaven. You both were proudly posting photos from her first birthday party on May 27, and she couldn’t have looked more adorable eating birthday cake, which was spread all over her face. However, TMZ claims that you two are at war behind the scenes and that Nia is saying that Chris has stopped paying the agreed upon $2500 in monthly child support payments.
Furthermore, the report claims that Nia wants 15K a month and that Chris thinks that’s “ridiculous”. Additionally, that Nia’s lawyer, Carl Moore, will be filing legal documents to get the support payments which are owed, plus more. Clearly, this is a difficult situation. You two need to come to an understanding about what Royalty needs, but you both need to be reasonable. Nia, you must be happy that Chris has so enthusiastically embraced dadhood. He didn’t know that he had fathered a child until a DNA test revealed the surprising results in March 2015.
Nevertheless, he could have fought you. He could have refused to take responsibility for Royalty. He could have forced you to take him to court to get any child support — something which would have been extremely difficult because his name isn’t on Royalty’s birth certificate.
“The only way Chris could be required to pay child support is if his name is on the birth certificate,” t LA attorney Mychal Wilson explained exclusively to Hollywoodlife.com. Nevertheless, Chris has been ecstatic to be a daddy. There’s hardly a day that goes by now without him posting adorable photos of his beloved daughter. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LIL LADY ROYALTY!!!! I Love u,” he enthused on her birthday. “God has blessed me with my twin. #ROYALTY,” he Instagrammed last month.
We’ve heard that he’s embraced all the daily daddy duties including changing her diapers, feeding her, burping her and proudly watching her take her first steps. He even took her as his date to the Billboard Music Awards on May 17, where he walked the red carpet with her in his arms. “He wanted to show the world how much he loves her,” a source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. Nia, you have to appreciate that Chris is an involved dad despite the fact that you and Royalty are in Houston and he is in LA.
Nia Guzman: Make Reasonable Demands For Royalty’s Care
Nia, you also need to be reasonable in what you ask for to support Royalty. You absolutely need to get enough money so that she can be raised in comfort and will have access to the best education and all the activities that a little girl needs, whether it’s summer camp or singing lessons. On the other hand, she doesn’t have to be raised in the lap of total luxury. And that is not necessarily the best course of action, anyway.
Too much money and luxury could take away her initiative to strive for her own dreams. You want Royalty to grow up with a strong work ethic and passions to give her life purpose. Perhaps this is what Chris has in mind, if he is resisting giving you all that you might want for her. Chris, after all, did not grow up in a monied situation and had to work hard to create his own success. You two need to have some very serious talks about how you want Royalty to be brought up and what values you want to instill in her.
That should help you come to an understanding about how much Chris’ monthly support payments should be. Nia — you want Chris to be a committed dad who is supportive of her emotionally as well as financially. And Chris, you want to do the right thing for Royalty and Nia. With that in mind, surely you two can work out your financial arrangements without courts and hostility. After all, you are both motivated by love for little Royalty.
Hollywoodlifers — do you think Chris and Nia can avoid courts and work out arrangements themselves? Let me know.
