Funny Or Die has taken on the Duggar sex scandal! In a funny, but slightly controversial, new parody, two actors portray Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and give a ‘response’ to the shocking reveal that son, Josh Duggar, had molested young girls when he was just 14 years old.
Leave it to Funny Or Die to take on even the most controversial subject and make a joke out of it! The site parodied the Josh Duggar molestation scandal in a new video, which features stand-ins for parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, giving a clueless response to the horrifying claims about their son.
“When we were first told about Josh’s mistakes, we did the right thing and we ignored the girl who came forward,” ‘Michelle’ said, staring straight into the camera. Ouch! The actors also made several jabs about how many kids the Duggars have, jokingly forgetting more than one child’s name throughout the clip.
“We did the right thing and immediately waited three years before we called the authorities,” ‘Michelle’ added, referencing how the Duggars didn’t take Josh’s case to the police until things started getting really out of hand.
The sketch really goes in on the Duggars, with the ‘parents’ concluding, “It’s been terrible for us and Josh. But those are the only three people affected by these mistakes.” Yikes! In case you forgot, Josh was the subject of a 2006 police investigation, in which he was accused of molesting five young girls.
The actual Jim Bob and Michelle released a statement about the scandal on May 21, saying, “Back 12 years ago our family went through one of the most difficult times of our lives. When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes, and we were shocked. We had to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficultt time caused us to seek God like never before.”
The family’s hit show 19 Kids & Counting has yet to be canceled, but TLC has pulled reruns from its schedule, and tons of advertisers have pulled out. But, a source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, that an official cancellation from the network is getting closer and closer.
“With all the advertisers running away in droves, the current incarnation of the show is looking more and more of being cancelled,” an insider told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “TLC will make the announcement by next week.” But those who are still fans of the show shouldn’t lose hope — it’s also likely that a spinoff will come next!
“TLC is doing everything possible to keep the show on the air in some format, and they are even considering a spinoff. They want the family to be in the TLC family in some way, shape or form and only cut ties with Josh.” The spinoff will likely focus on Jill and Jessa Duggar, along with their husbands Derick Dillard and Ben Seewald, as they start families of their own (Jill already has one child and Jessa is pregnant with her first).
