Johnny Depp Jail Time — Going To Prison For Smuggling Dogs To Australia?
Okay, so here’s exactly what happened: Johnny was accused of not declaring the pets when he touched down in Brisbane. After customs officers forced the dogs onto a private jet back to the US, a federal investigation began.
A senate hearing in Canberra on May 25 decided that the actor could be jailed for up to ten years or be fined a maximum penalty of $340,000 if found guilty of not declaring his dogs — yikes!
“To be honest I think he thinks it’s quite humorous,” Doohan’s Coomera, a good pal of Johnny’s told Couriermail. “He’s a humorous type of guy, I think he’s just disappointed about how its been relentless. I think Australia will struggle to get people out here if that’s the way they carry on,” he went on.
When the dogs were discovered in Australia, customs officers threatened to put them down if Johnny didn’t immediately ship them back to the US — so harsh!
“That’s the deal,” the Minister for Agriculture, Barnaby Joyce, said during an interview on 3AW mornings. “If people think that’s a bit harsh, well, I’ll tell you what harsh is. Harsh is if we let down our guard and ultimately, rabies gets into the country.”
