Wow. It was only a matter of time, but Amy Schumer went there! The comedian took on Bill Cosby’s rape allegations – by defending him! – in a hilarious skit during an episode of ‘Inside Amy Schumer.’
Amy Schumer, 33, doesn’t pull any punches and that’s why we love her. So when she took on Bill Cosby, we knew it would be outrageous — and controversial. In an Inside Amy Schumer skit that is as shocking as it is funny, Amy addressed Cosby’s multiple rape allegations by defending him in a spoof trial!
Amy Schumer’s Bill Cosby Skit: She ‘Defends’ Him In Mock Trial
The skit, which appeared on the May 26 episode of Inside Amy Schumer, featured The Trial of Bill Cosby in the Court of Public Opinion. And Amy was on the side of the defense!
After the prosecution rested its case, Amy started to state why Bill is innocent. Her first piece of evidence? The theme song to The Cosby Show, which got her and everyone in the jury dancing! Amy then played a spoof clip of the Cosby show and asked “Did anyone feel raped by that?”
Yikes! She continued to describe Bill as the “familiar father figure” that he used to be known as before the many women came out to say he sexually assaulted them. Amy seemed to win the jury over by busting out the Puddin’ Pops! And then, out came the Cosby Sweaters!
This funny and biting sketch didn’t so much diss Bill Cosby, but his defenders. Specifically, Amy went after those who claim Bill’s innocent, just because saying otherwise might make them slightly uncomfortable. Amy totally broke it down:
Ladies and gentlemen, at this point, Bill Cosby probably can’t into any legal trouble. That’s not what this is about. This is about us not punishing ourselves for loving great comedy. The next time you put on a rerun of The Cosby Show, you may wince a little, you may feel a little pang. And none of us deserve that!
Boom. Mic drop. Though, we won’t spoil the best joke. You’ll just have to watch the clip to see it for yourself.
This season of Inside Amy Schumer has seen her take no prisoners. In fact, the Cosby skit wasn’t the first time Amy took down rape culture. She obliterated it in this season’s very first episode, trashing it in a sidesplitting Friday Night Lights parody called Football Town Nights.
What did you think about Amy’s Bill Cosby skit, HollywoodLifers? Hilarious, or did she go too far?
