Even if ’19 Kids & Counting’ gets canceled, you may still be seeing the Duggar family on TV. A spinoff may be in the works, according to a new report, which will just focus on Jill and Jessa Duggar and their new husbands! Plus, HollywoodLife.com just learned they may just cut ties with Josh Duggar, their oldest son, altogether!
The future of 19 Kids and Counting is up in the air after child molestation allegations have circled the oldest son, Josh Duggar, but it looks like the family will still be in the spotlight. The family may be working to create a new show, 2 Brides and Their Grooms, which will completely focusing on the newlyweds of the family: Jill and Derick Dillard, who just had their first baby, and Jessa and Ben Seewald, who are pregnant with their first child.
’19 Kids & Counting’ Spinoff In The Works Following Molestation Case
“The show had begun to focus more and more on the next generation of Duggars, anyway – mainly Jill and Jessa and their marriages and babies,” a source told People. “That’s when the show got its highest ratings.”
Additionally, a source close to the network has told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that TLC will do “every possible thing to keep the show on the air in some format.”
“They want the family to be in the TLC family in some way shape or form and only cut ties with Josh,” our source continued. “They are scared of the backlash from the religious contingent that watches and supports the show, the same people that kept Duck Dynasty on the air after their controversy is only going to help 19 Kids. TLC is willing to take the initial ratings loss and hope with the lack of Josh that they can continue the show and keep it on the channel.”
Currently, TLC has not canceled the show, even after Josh was accused of “forcible fondling” five different girls when he was a teenager. TLC has no comment regarding a statement at this time.
